He said to them: 'Be careful and stay away from all covetousness, because even if one is in abundance, life does not depend on what he possesses. " Then he told them a parable: "The ground of a rich man produced an abundant harvest. He thought to himself: "What shall I do, because I have no where to put my crops? I will do so - he said - pull down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to myself, my soul, you have many goods, for many years, rest, eat, drink and have fun. " But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night you will be prompted for your life. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of cieli.Eccoci here at the beginning of August, at the heart of summer, between the unbearable heat and the desire to rest between excursions and trips to the mountains to the sea ... Here we are, after the Sunday of the Good Samaritan and the need della preghiera - tra l’affannarsi di Marta e l’ascolto di Maria – a sentirci interpellati su… denaro ed eredità.In un tempo di crisi economica come questo, ben conoscendo il cuore di ciascuno di noi, provi ad alzare la mano chi non abbia mai discusso con qualcuno su questioni di soldi. E chi non abbia sperato di ritrovarsi, in un giorno di lutto, erede della ricchezza di qualcun altro. Purtroppo non sono rare le liti o i dissapori tra fratelli alla morte di un genitore a causa dell’eredità, né il finto interesse dei parenti al morente, per far tacere la coscienza e poter dire: “beh, comunque gli siamo stati vicini… ci meritiamo che pensi anche a noi”.Ed ecco che, come un temporale inaspettato in the summer heat (which makes the air hotter instead of cooling), now comes the gospel with strong word of Jesus on the use of wealth.
The song is now included in Chapter 12 of Luke, where the evangelist brings together a number of sayings of Jesus, addressed to the disciples and the crowd. In the first verse of the chapter says that "thousands of people had gathered that they were trampling one another." It is a clear picture that expresses the large number of followers who now was behind the Master. But Jesus, surrounded by so many people, is addressed only to the disciples, urging them to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, that is hypocrisy, to confess openly Dio.il speech on faith in wealth, however, casts a new look at the whole crowd. Spogliato delle sue vesti si rivolge al padre Pietro di Bernardone dicendo: "Finora ho chiamato te, mio padre sulla terra; d'ora in poi posso dire con tutta sicurezza: Padre nostro che sei nei cieli, perché in lui ho riposto ogni mio tesoro e ho collocato tutta la mia fiducia e la mia speranza".
