Beati i vostri occhi perché vedono.

Gesù compie un miracolo, ma è l’unica volta che lo compie per gradi. Ci possiamo chiedere il perché. La risposta sta nel fatto che Gesù non volle risanare il cieco tutto ad un tratto, sia per dimostrare che egli dispone a piacere dei propri doni, sia perché la sua potenza andò agendo nella misura in cui la fede del cieco crebbe, sino a diventare perfetta. Lo stesso sistema non di rado viene usato da Dio a proposito della guarigione di malati dello spirito: egli procede un po’ alla volta, alimentando nel contempo la fede dell’infermo, concedendo una pienezza di salute, quando ci saremo abbandonati completamente a lui, considerandolo nostro unico salvatore. Tutto ciò non può prescindere dalla nostra fede e non esclude la nostra personale collaborazione. Anzi, il Signore attende la nostra domanda: «Che cosa vuoi che io faccia per te? - Signore che io veda». Ecco la preghiera per la giornata di oggi: «Signore fa’ che io “veda”».
