SECOND READING 1 Corinthians 3.16 to 23
from the first letter of Paul to the Corinthians
Brothers, do not you know that you are God's temple and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. Why is the holy temple of God, which is you.
no one be deceived. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this world, you face a fool to become wise, because wisdom of this world is foolishness with God it is written: "He drops the wise in their craftiness." And again: "The Lord knows the plans of the wise are futile."
So nobody puts its pride in men, because all things are yours: Paul, Apollos, Cephas, the world, life, death, present and future: all are yours; But you are Christ and Christ is God
Gospel Acclamation 1 Jn 2.5
in him the love of God is perfect.
GOSPEL
5.38 to 38 Mt
At that time, Jesus said to his disciples:
"You have heard it said:" An eye for eye, tooth for tooth. " But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but if one slaps you on the right cheek, you turn to him the other also, and those who want to take you to court and take your tunic, let him have your coat. And whosoever shall compel thee to go with him for a mile, go with him to let two. From 'who asks you, and who want to borrow not turn your back.
You have heard that it was said: "You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy." But I say unto you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that ye may be sons of your Father in heaven, he makes his sun rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust. In fact, if you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Do not even the publicans? And if you greet your brethren only, what are you doing than others? Do not even pagans? You, therefore, be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect. "
Homily (Mary's assistant)
many years teaching mathematics at a school near Florence. As a teacher I tend to give many exercises to do at home, in the belief that after the teacher's explanation, nothing can be as useful as the individual exercise and the comparison with the skills acquired. There
one of my student, which to me is very nice, there are (as they say here) Gaia that when I say the fateful words "take and write the diary for the day that such exercise of tot and tot de page that is", he turns to mates with a wink and says, with classic juvenile-jargon Tuscan
"That weighed!"
And I pretend not to hear, even if I smile to myself.
understand at the end of my discussion today because I mentioned this episode.
Let's start with three verses that we heard in today's liturgy:
"You, therefore, be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect" so ends the Gospel proclaimed today. But even in Letture abbiamo udito le seguenti parole:
A beautiful and interesting book that if you have not done, please read ...
The Gospel proclaimed today shows us in what the Christian should be different from other people. Not enough to be good people, solidarity, ethical, morally "right" to be disciples of Christ (there are no Christians who are sometimes much more ethical practitioners of Christians, I have personally had the experience). In fact, his voice takes us through the ages (marvels of the word still alive!) saying "For if you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Do not even the publicans? And if you greet your brethren only, which What are you doing than others? Do not even pagans? "
The Christian must have something more: the consapevolezzache the God proclaimed by Jesus is the God of love and not just to justice. It 'a God of mercy, which asks us to experience firsthand the love of the brethren. Let us now
passage from the Gospel proclaimed today, in this Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time.
The liturgy of this last period has given us to read the entire fifth chapter of Matthew's Gospel, in fact we heard a reading from January 30 to today.
This chapter, which begins with the proclamation of the beatitudes, continues with the call of Jesus his disciples to be "the salt of the earth" and show what are the concrete forms for the following explained by a continuous parallel between the Old and New Testaments, just evangelist Matthew, who as we know, most of the other evangelists brings a message of continuity between Israel and the Messiah, Jesus
If we read Chapter 5 in the light of the above, we consider two plans, which as a common thread through all the paragraphs that compose it.
The first floor is the identity of Jesus, who tells her (and us through the generations) "I am the Messiah, the one that Israel was waiting, in me fulfill the promises of God and I promise the Kingdom of Heaven. "All in agreement and fulfillment of promises made by God to Israel. Verbatim in verse 17 Jesus says: " not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets: I am not come to abolish them but to fulfill " (Matthew 5:17)
The second floor has to do with our personal identity in the face of his, identified and recognized, as he's got the proposal.
Because if we accept and believe that He is Lord, then, we therefore decide to play the role of the disciple, and we must therefore understand what are the consequences.
So the newspaper aims to tell all the costs to the respondent who forgives, and as dazed and confused by this person did not make even good pain, the journalist insisted, "You forgive the killers of his son? forgive them? Decide to forgive? "Repeating these words in the obsessively, while the poor who still did not understand in that situation was personal and public, with glazed eyes staring at the camera, in which the journalist triumphantly, and without shame, began to scream" The Mrs. granted forgiveness! "And then pay the fair result" laugh line in the study. " Do not believe it!
Certainly forgiveness is not torn to make a statement show, not a "show", it is not just a statement without foundation
E 'something intimate, deep, thoughtful, wanted is a symptom of something that permeates the 'heart and soul. This is true even for those who do not believe in Christ. But is not that Christians have the exclusivity of forgiveness! There are many people able to forgive the wrongs among humans. But the Christian perspective should be a bit 'different.
In this regard, I quote the second episode that made me think long and consistently on forgiveness. It is a
episode many years ago that struck me very much and I think that affected the public at the time. It refers to the years of my youth, between 1977 and 1980.
Italy had just experienced "years of lead" and the abduction and kidnapping of Aldo Moro and was a country torn with deep wounds, for people like me, lived in Rome, were tangible dramatically. We were a young idealist, full of values, boys often different from each other and divided by their "belief", which had witnessed so much violence and too many funerals.
In 1980, when it seemed to have some heavy weather calmed Vittorio Bachelet at the end of a lecture at La Sapienza University, was killed.
“Se è difficile ricordare quel clima, quasi impossibile è rivivere l’emozione (non dirò della morte, che tutti conoscono) ma quella creatasi ai funerali Vittorio Bachelet, 14 February 1980, two days after his assassination at the University of Rome, where he taught. Bachelet, vice president of the Superior Council of Magistracy and especially known for having been for many years at the top of the Italian Catholic, was highly respected throughout the country. In the great church of St. Robert Bellarmine, reinforced, were all the state authorities, representatives of all institutions crying next to ordinary citizens and young people. Was celebrated by Cardinal Poletti, President of CEI. Live TV throughout Italy could see, the prayer of the faithful, a young-faced stranger who climbed the altar. It was John, the son of 24 years, returned quickly from the United States. He said: "We pray for our President Sandro Pertini, Francesco Cossiga, to our leaders, for all judges, for all the police, the police, the prison guards, how many different responsibilities in today's society, parliament, the streets are still at the forefront of the struggle for democracy with courage and love. Let us pray also for those who have hit my dad because, without sacrificing justice must triumph, our mouths there is always forgiveness and revenge ever, still life and never requested the death of others, "The family
Bachelet, not only in this episode but also in other (if you want to know I suggest you read more http://62.77.63.181/C_impegnoeducativo_it/Upload/9f904615-53df-45a2-ad1d-9e8c2843b942.pdf) gave us a testimony of what is meant by Christian forgiveness.
then I would say that Christian forgiveness is the realization that everything is part of a project that is of God and forgiveness may be adherence to the will of one who is bigger than us and to which everything must be brought back, trying to reach a goal. I talk about goal, because it truly is difficult to forgive and calls for the holy.
not forgive words, we said, but with the mind, heart and subsequently in the facts.
And then get there only if you have a new heart and a head from a free person.
Forse si può arrivare a perdonare perché di persona abbiamo toccato con mano il perdono del Padre misericordioso, che nonostante our shortcomings, our miseries, our sin, gives us his forgiveness every time we are sincerely sorry: sharing our human condition that has given us, through the Church, gave the sacraments that unite us to Him and to others.
Perhaps you may be able to forgive because our soul is a blessing, because as the Psalm says that we understand and we have introjected " Merciful and gracious is the Lord, slow to anger, abounding in love. Do not treat us according to our sins nor repay us according to our iniquities " and this makes us men and women different.
Perhaps you may be able to forgive by looking to the Cross where the centuries riecheggia la preghiera : “ Padre, perdonali, perché non sanno quello che fanno ”.
Perché nel pregare per loro riconosciamo which are, like us, children of God then we get to be part of a human family that is dear to us and inbred, regardless of our feelings because it's our knowledge that God loves everyone equally and that "(he ) makes his sun rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust. "
go back to Gaia, the student I mentioned initially. If we read the Gospel passage today, established by the presence of Christ, Christian lives of many credible witnesses, such as Gaia winks and you say "that weighed" other words that commitment! What rules of life gives us hard this Gospel passage, or even right, but as nice you? It 's impossible.
But looking to the Cross, we get all the answers, all the freedom that only Christ can give us, and step by step, day after day in an apprenticeship that is continuous: the ability to forgive.
We pray that the Lord will help us in this journey of conversion.
To him who he was, is and that is, all honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen
penitential rite
* Lord, if we can not forgive and be worthy of you that you showed us the meaning of forgiveness on the Cross, have mercy on us: Lord have mercy!
* Christ often lose the meaning of life, ignoring our brothers, but bending our wills to have mercy on us Christ, have mercy!
* Lord, you teach us our freedom from slavery and our sins, save us, come and save us and have mercy on us: Lord have mercy!
PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL
* Lord, teach us to pray for our enemies to love you too in them, we pray:
* Lord, make us free men in the hearts and ideas, we pray:
* Lord, help us to change our hearts, to turn our direction in life that You've given us, and we please:
* Lord, that our life has not only the narrow sense of our small groups, our friendships, of a world that revolves only around us but teach us to have a heart that is truly open to all; we pray:
* Lord, help us to understand that the Kingdom starts on earth and send us to proclaim to everyone we meet that the kingdom will be fulfilled only in you, we pray:
* For your church: it is always an expression of your freedom and the bearer of forgiveness, we pray.
FOR MEDITATION
After communion
Prayer (Psalm 33)
will bless the Lord at all times, always on my lips
his praise.
3 I will praise the Lord,
the humble hear and rejoice.
4 Celebrate the Lord with me,
exalt his name together.
5 I sought the Lord and he answered
and delivered me from all my fears. 6
Look to him and be radiant,
your faces not be abashed. 7
the poor cry and the Lord hears
frees him from all his troubles.
8 The angel of the Lord encamp
around those who fear Him and rescues them. 9
Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed are those who take refuge in him.
10 Fear the Lord, you his saints,
nothing lacking in those who fear him.
11 The needy and hungry, but who
seek the Lord lack nothing good.
12 Come, my children, listen
teach you the fear of the Lord.
13 Does anyone want
life, longs for time to enjoy prosperity?
14 Guard your tongue from evil,
lips from speaking deceit. He
15 'away from evil and do' good,
seek peace and pursue it.
16 The eyes of the Lord the righteous,
his ears to their cry for help.
17 The face of the Lord against the evildoers,
to erase the memory from the earth. 18
cry and the Lord hears them,
saves them from all their troubles.
19 The Lord is near to the broken-hearted people,
he saves the spirit is crushed.
20 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but
frees him from all the Lord. 21
keeps all his bones, not one
will be broken.
22 The wicked malice kills
those who hate the righteous will be punished.
23 The LORD redeems the life of his servants,
who take refuge in him will not be condemned.
